Scientists are working day and night to come up with new technology and methods that will treat various diseases. That is why there are several Stem Cell Research Facilities all over the world. These programs have been started to study how the body units can be manipulated to cure certain diseases. These units are the raw materials of the body. Therefore, they can be manipulated in the laboratory under the right conditions to divide into more units can be used in treating diseases. If you have never heard about these units or their functions, below are several things you should find out.

Scientists have discovered that the top three areas of this research include embryonic, tissue/adult, and induced pluripotent or reprogrammed stem cells. These three kinds of units are being studied in several facilities around the world. Scientists hope that these studies will bring new insight or light into the treatment of cancer and avoid many congenital disabilities.

The embryonic units that are used in these studies are usually acquired from the early stages of the embryo development. The embryos are prepared in several fertility clinics. The aim of these units is to treat fertility issues. Nevertheless, only a small fraction is used. Therefore, the rest of the units cannot be used. They are thus discarded since they cannot be used in any other application. The embryonic units used by scientists are usually obtained after five days of fertilization.

Adult units are also used in these units. This means that all units are essential. These units are found in adults, children, and even the developing fetuses. They may not be very useful, but they are not useless either. They tend to be more specialized and are created from embryos. They can thus from one or two units like muscles or immune system units.

The induced units that can also be referred to as iPS are adult units that have been reprogrammed. They can thus behave like embryonic units. The reprogramming is done using viruses that predispose the components to cancer. However, the reprogrammed units have not been used in treating patients up to date.

These research facilities get financial support from the federal government. The centers that do not use federal funds are very few. The government, therefore, allocates funds to these centers. The management uses the funds to buy all necessary equipment such as lab tools. Therefore, scientists have an excellent chance to work in an environment that has everything they want for their experiments.

Some of the units that have been discovered and manipulated in the centers have been used to treat diseases. Doctors have performed transplants that have been successful. The select units are used to replace units that have been damaged by chemotherapy or diseases. The units also help in fighting blood-related diseases like leukemia and lymphoma.

One of the issues that researchers face is that the units used must differentiate into the desired units. If this does not happen, the treatment will not be successful. There are several other challenges that scientists face, but they have not given up on the study.
