The Types Of Russellville Breast Surgery

By Debra Campbell

There are generally three categories of cosmetic surgeries. The types are breast augmentation, reconstruction and reduction. For residents of Russellville breast surgery should be well-understood before one gets to consider the procedure. Augmentation of breasts is done to improve the size, contour and appearance. There are a number of reasons why a woman would consider augmentation. For once, it could be because the breasts are very small and thus they need to increase the size. Others also consider it because of change in breasts after surgery.

The procedure of breast augmentation is performed using implants that are normally placed beneath chest muscles or on top of them. The incisions might be made in the armpits or at the area that surrounds nipples. For most augmentation procedures, the procedure is just minimally invasive. Implants are usually made from silicone shells that are filled with saline solution or in some cases silicone gel. The desired size will be known by fitting trial implants. The procedure of augmentation is one that is straightforward but comes with side effects like other forms of surgery.

Reduction surgery is common in women who have large and heavy breasts. Such women experience significant discomfort that includes back pains, neck pains and numbness. The effects are caused by weight of the breasts. During the reduction procedure, excess fat, skin and tissues will be removed. After the surgical procedure is done, breast reduction could cause change in sensation of breasts or the inability of the mother to breastfeed. After reduction is done, most women report that they get the required relief.

Reconstruction of breasts is another procedure. It is the surgical procedure which is performed in women who undergo mastectomy for treatment of breast cancer. The procedure recreates breasts with the appearance that is desired, as well as the right volume and contour. There will also be recreation of the nipples and aureola. Normal sensation of breasts and their function will not return when sensory nerves have been removed.

With the use of implants, there can be change in appearance, contour and volume of breasts. Another option is the use of tissues from the woman. In case implants are used, they should be sized to match that of the opposite breast. The implants can be placed beneath chest muscles. In some instances, there could be requirement of surgery on the opposite breast which is normal so that there is creation of symmetry with the one that is to be newly reconstructed.

Breast lifts are another surgical procedure that women can go for. For certain women, skin around breasts is not firm enough to support the resulting weight. That causes sagging of breasts. The condition is referred to as ptosis and results in more skin that tissues. For breasts to have the required lift, such excess skin has to be removed. The surgery comes with permanent scars. The appearance of such scars can be reduced.

There is normally the question of whether the procedure is covered by insurance. That is not the case at all times. The procedure is only covered if the surgery is needed following a mastectomy. Doing it as a cosmetic procedure means it is not covered by insurance.

One should be certain of costs to be incurred. That should be determined in prior. Also important to know is that if one goes for the procedure for cosmetic purposes, their health premiums are likely to rise.
