Relax With A Tarpon Springs Fishing Excursion

By Daniel Cox

If you have ever wanted to spend an entire day out on the open ocean, but do not own your own boat, then you are in luck. With a Tarpon Springs fishing charter, you can go out for hours at a time while also getting in a little sport by catching fish. You can use this time to relax while also bonding with family or friends.

You do not have to own your own boat in order to go out on this type of adventure. Florida is full of charter companies that own the boat and equipment needed to go fishing. You do not even need to have previous experience with fishing, either, as the crew of your ship will be able to help any skill level from novice to newbie.

There are many different trips you can sign up for. There are shorter ones that last three to five hours, where you can spend just a single morning or afternoon on the water. There are also longer trips that can take six to eight hours, allowing you much more time to fill a cooler full of your catches. There are even day long trips that last up to 12 hours, where you will be on board from sun up to sundown.

You may even find that a few charters offer overnight trips, so you can have a slumber party on the boat. These have limited spots, as they generally keep the headcount low to ensure that everyone gets attention. Included in these trips is most if not all meals, refreshments and drinks to keep you hydrated.

The prices for these trips vary widely, depending on how long the excursion lasts. However, most fees include your license, so you do not have to go through the trouble of applying for a Florida fishing license. Bait, tackle, rods and reels are also included, though you are free to bring your own equipment if you prefer. Some companies even include taxes and parking fees in the final price, so you only need some cash to tip your crew after you get back from your outing.

You can choose either a private or public charter for your trip. Private means just you and your group, along with the crew, of course. A public one is great for when you are going solo. You will join other solo fishermen or small groups, which means you meet new people while you relax on the water and catch your dinner for that night. You still get the same great service either way.

On the appointed day, you will be welcoming on board by your crew, who have tons of experience at sea. They know the best spots to get the most bites, and will even clean and pack your catches for you, or teach you how to do it yourself if you would prefer.

The spot your captain takes you depends upon what type of fish you want to catch and eat. Favorites in the area include tarpon, which is the fish after which the city is named. Red snapper, trout, cobia and grouper are also plentiful in these local waters.
