Booking Oregon Inlet Fishing Charters For Fun

By Diane Martin

Fishing is thought of as a way to spend a day off by some, and is thought of as a sport by others. No matter what way you see it, spending an afternoon or even a whole day out on a boat in the ocean and bringing home dinner is a great experience. If you are in Kill Devil Hills, NC or the surrounding area, there are Oregon Inlet fishing charters that you can book.

The Oregon Inlet might sound like it is on the West Coast, but it is actually on the East Coast of the United States, right off the area that is known as the Outer Banks of coastal North Carolina. It is in the Atlantic Ocean, near a gulf stream that brings lots of fish to the area. It is ripe for anglers to take advantage of, as you can catch everything from marlins to small sharks.

There are many choices for charter companies in the area, so if you love to fish but do not have your own boat, that is not a problem at all. You can take your sweet time and fish from sunup to sundown by booking what is known as an offshore trip. These start at the break of dawn and go all day, usually. You get a chance to go deep sea fishing since you go way out to sea. If you want to stay closer and only book a trip for a few hours or half a day, you can instead choose what is called an in shore trip. All the fun in half the time.

Whether you want to go all day or a half day, you will likely only go out if your boat is full or nearly full. Get your fishing loving friends together and split the cost of chartering the whole boat to save money and have fun with your buddies.

Sometimes your friends cannot make it on the day you want to fish, or perhaps you just do not know anyone who is interested. That is still OK. You just need to book what is commonly referred to as a makeup trip. This is where you are placed with others who do not have enough to book and entire charter either.

No matter which trip you choose, you must leave a deposit to hold your spot. The rest of the payment is generally due the day of the trip, though some companies may require you to pay the full amount in advance. Check the rules and regulations for your chosen company.

The tour operators will have the fishing equipment you need, along with bait. You can bring along your own though, if you prefer. You should bring your own sunscreen, towel and a hat at the bare minimum. If meals or refreshments are not provided, you will want to bring those with you as well.

All charters are headed by an experienced crew that knows the best spots to find fish. This includes the boat captain, so feel free to ask any questions you may have. Then get ready to have a great time catching dinner for your family.
