By Richard Watson

For the years its been around, autism has significantly grown popular and diagnosed to a one percent of the global population. Apart from being incurable, its also not infectious and instead its passed on genetically making it hard to implement preventive measures. Autism Colorado research teams have however made great success in trying to understand ways to manage this disorder; thus, helping these victims enjoy a normal life.

Usually, it affects social and behavioral skills whereby one can be seen struggling to speak or even make connection with the people around them. Biting ones tongue, playing with hands and stuttering are among the characteristics displayed by these individuals when tying to communicate. With proper treatment, one can learn to overcome these struggles and able to socialize which is what that has seen autistic individuals marry which is ever easy.

Creating awareness and eliminating the stigma that is placed on this and other mental disorder help create a better environment for these individuals as understanding them makes it easier for them to connect and learn to manage their condition. Also, better facilities can be availed where every victim is not limited to seeking treatment due to financial constraints.

Chronologically, it appears before the age of 3 as this is a developmental stage where a child is learning to speak, among other growth progresses. Even though its not in all cases, failing to develop these skills at this age should be a sign of the disorder and parents should consider getting their kid checked out. Early intervention is key as it increases the chances of managing this condition before it goes out of control.

With most of them being anti social, there are those that are even violent and can not only hurt someone else but themselves too. Moreover, there are others that are calm and only get incontrollable ones they are angered. Banging themselves with objects, cutting themselves and biting their skin is among the torturous acts they tend to do when angered.

Statistics have over the years proven that the men are the most affected as compared to females as their prevalence rate is 4 into 1. This means that for every 4 diagnosed male there is only one female. Being a lifelong condition the only way to survive it is by learning to live with it with the help of competent doctors who can prescribe you the best medication and a proper diet to keep you healthy.

Epilepsy, sleeping disorders and asthma are among the many allergies that usually come with this disorder; therefore, treating the condition means managing these allergies to and finding their triggers in order to learn how to live with them. These challenges can be overwhelming which is the reason why most victims lash out every ones in a while. The severity of this condition is usually different for every patient and therefore everyone must be assessed to determine the proper medication for them.

It takes the right facility to teach these autistic individuals how to manage the condition and live a normal life or rather the best thing close to it. Apart from the equipments necessary for their learning, proper medication and dieting play a crucial role in keeping them healthier; thus, creating more room for learning.
