Damaged Hair Repair Products You Never Dreamed Were In The Kitchen

By Della Monroe

We all want to look our best and a part of that is what is sitting on top of our heads. There is hope for us all even if we have nothing but a messy frizzy mess. Just go to the kitchen and look through your cabinets because you will find Damaged Hair Repair Products you never dreamed were in the kitchen.

Olive oil contains fatty acids acting as an emollient that coats the locks of your mane to keep it protected, soft, and healthy. The same fatty acids are what commercial manufactures use as part of the ingredients in the shampoo and conditioner you may be paying a good deal of money for. Instead of going to the beauty aisle of the supermarket, go to the kitchen cabinet.

Coconut oil also contain the same fatty acids and emollients. When either or both oils are massaged on and left for an hour or longer it does the most good. The oil prevents water from penetrating the strands which causes it to then rise. The reason this is a good thing, is because when the shaft rises, it can break and is prone to damage.

Just measure out a half cup of either and let it warm up while sitting in a container over a bowl or pot of hot or very warm water. Then massage it on and let it sit. You can wrap it with a towel or use a plastic shower cap if you want to protect your furniture or pillow if you are leaving on overnight. When done, just shampoo and rinse it out.

Mayonnaise is another item most homes always have. The oils it contains create a coating much like silicone which protects your mane from heat and adds shine. People may not realize mayonnaise contain eggs which is a really good thing for your locks. The protein they provide replenish the weak strands and prevent further breakage while encouraging new growth from the root.

Another protein that aids in strengthening comes from eggs. Yes, eggs, so if you do not have any go buy some and mix twp of them with five tablespoons of mayonnaise. Do not beat with a fork or utensil, instead use your hand to prevent the mixture from turning liquid. You want to be able to apply a paste to your mane and leave it on for thirty minutes or more. Then just shampoo out.

Unfortunately a lot of the things we do and have been taught are what cause the most damage to our beautiful tresses. Using a blow dryer instead of air drying, is one culprit. Another two big reasons for the frizzes is a curling iron and a hot comb. Even towel drying your locks can cause damage if you are rubbing instead of just leaving in place to soak up the moisture.

A few things some people do not think about doing to help their mane stay healthy and strong is to shampoo only the scalp when washing. Actually if your rub the shampoo down the entire length it can cause breakage just as brushing while wet can. Use a deep conditioner on a regular basis. In addition, when swimming, use a swim cap, or if just sunbathing, remember to apply some sort of sunscreen to your tresses also or at the least wear a hat.
